Food traceability: Smartphone with NFC from field to table

The proposed methodology aims to simplify the management of the information during the production chain in agriculture applying advanced, widely used, low cost and easy to use ICT solutions: smartphones with NFC and cloud data storage.

The purpose of this collaboration (ASSAM - Università Politecnica delle Marche) is to use the NFC technology, actually developed and diffused enough, applied in each phase of the production chain and the use of cloud storage to share information between farmers, government institutions and final consumer. All the information of previous production steps are obtained approaching the smartphone of the farmer to the tag placed in the object, additional information are added and stored in a cloud database and written in another tag.

The final customer reads all the information, or what the farmer and the law want to show, of the production chain simply approaching his smartphone with NFC to the tag placed on the product, for example a bottle of olive oil.
